.Smithwicks. - ‘Visitor Centre Refresh’
.THE CHALLENGE.
Ahead of the reopening of Smithwick’s Experience in Kilkenny Diageo wanted to modernise the Visitor Centre, inside and out - including the iconic Smithwick’s mural in the heart of the city. Headcase were briefed on a project to design and execute works that create lasting impact and talkability.
.THE RESPONSE.
Working closely with OffGrid Media & Catch Events, Headcase oversaw the design and paint of spaces ranging from large-scale interior, exterior and creative sigage - including feature walls that would create instagram moments for consumers visiting the centre.
Using bright, energetic designs and colours, the Centre was transformed.
A highlight of the project was also in the re-design of the historic mural on the gable end in the city centre. Working with Kilkenny County Council on a vision of paying homage to the modern Kilkenny - offering a unique interpretation of the craft and characters that had made its history so vibrant and unique. Enlisting the skills of long-term buddy, the talented Garreth Joyce, the design was brought to life over 7 days and has gone on to receive overwhelmingly positive review.
Kilkenny County Council CEO Colette Byrne commented:
“I’m delighted with the restoration…The mural is a representation of what Kilkenny has to offer and we are really looking forward to welcoming people back to the city this summer”.”
